Allison Polgar’s current work focuses on the transformation of neighborhood landscapes through the restructuring of residential housing. She explores these transforming landscapes by depicting their various components: man-made mountains of dirt that seem to rise overnight, skeletal building frames looming over spare deserts, and bruised construction barrels seemingly huddled in conversation with one another. Through her explorations she draws attention to the strange, often unnoticed, beauty and personality of these landscapes while also investigating the disruption that occurs when a specific brand of progress or revitalization is imposed upon an existing neighborhood.
