Re-Source-Full - Martha Cliffel

Re-Source-Full

Date

Oct 12 2018 - Nov 10 2018
Expired!

Time

All Day

Location

Sullivan Family Gallery

This body of work deals with the detritus of life repurposed into provocative objects. Martha uses her time on the streets walking as an opportunity to trash pick and find value and beauty in the many discarded objects that have been part of other people’s lives. Martha is an intuitive builder and gleans meaning from the juxtaposition of disparate and sometimes haunting objects. She combines her history as a mother and teacher with her innate abilities as an artist to subvert the natural purposes of the “starter” objects she finds. Her sculptures are both intentionally irreverent and holy at the same time.
