This class is designed for students that want to explore the foundations of art while building confidence in their creativity. A CCAD alum, published illustrator and comic artist, Jim will teach students basic drawing skills such as shading, perspective, and proportion, then apply those techniques to painting with acrylics, ink and watercolors. Each session will introduce new tools and methods in a fun and supportive environment, encouraging experimentation and self expression. By the end of the course, students will have a portfolio of finished artwork and a stronger understanding of how to bring their ideas to life. Come Metalsmith with me in this step-by-step workshop. You will create a paperclip bracelet with a unique, double-sided charm. I will teach you how to hammer silver and copper into textural steel plates to produce a textured design. We will dome both of the charm halves, and solder them together. You choose your design, and measure the paperclip to best fit you. The length is adjustable. In Argentium Silver, copper, and stainless steel. All materials, tools, and safety equipment are provided. Please bring reading or prescription glasses to class as you will need them.
Skill set: Learn to hammer, dome, solder file, sand, antique, and polish silver and copper. Learn how to connect all components for a finished bracelet.
