Using willow and papers, students will learn the art of constructing a Japanese table top lantern. These lanterns are beautiful and can be used with battery powered lights. Students will design and build the framework of the lantern out of willow, then cover the framework with papers and embellishments. Once you learn the technique of constructing the lantern, you’ll be able to make lanterns of all sizes at home. Bring along a packed lunch.
