Dawn Tekler’s goal is to express the Zen meditative feeling and energy she gets from being on the water using the unique color and texture of the encaustic wax process. Much of her inspiration comes from paddle boarding on the Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie and studying the water, land, flora, and fauna from that perspective. The rhythm of the water, movement of the wind, and sounds of nature all have a direct impact on what Tekler brings to the canvas. Additionally, Tekler’s abstract work explores how to convey a scene with a minimal amount of information.
