This course is designed for students who have a strong foundation in drawing and cartooning concepts. The sole purpose of cartooning or illustration is to tell a story. In this class, we explore not only telling a story but expressing individuality through the use of illustration techniques that can be applied in any medium. Students will participate in class critiques as they work together, discuss each other’s work, and support one another’s growth.

Tap into your imagination to create little monster companions out of clay! Learn how to sculpt basic forms, create texture, and have fun getting your hand immersed in clay.

Crochet is a wonderful handcraft to learn and be creative with. Join us in the art studio and learn the basic stitches and how to read a pattern, learn the foundation and work your way up to Amigurumi stuffed toys!

This class is designed for students that want to explore the foundations of art while building confidence in their creativity. A CCAD alum, published illustrator and comic artist, Jim will teach students basic drawing skills such as shading, perspective, and proportion, then apply those techniques to painting with acrylics, ink and watercolors. Each session will introduce new tools and methods in a fun and supportive environment, encouraging experimentation and self expression. By the end of the course, students will have a portfolio of finished artwork and a stronger understanding of how to bring their ideas to life. Whether you love to doodle, want to try painting for the first time or just enjoy making art with friends, this class is a great place to start.

In this 10 week course, students will plan, design, build and eventually parade hand-built large-scale art works. Mic Fox will help guide and facilitate the creation of everything from paper mache puppet heads to kinetic bicycle-based parade floats. This class is designed for outside-the-box problem-solvers, sculpture-minded creatives, and future community builders.

This is an after school class that will allow your teen to work and play in clay without the pressure of school. It’s a wonderful chance to socialize while learning hand building, wedging, wheel throwing and exciting glazing techniques and combinations, giving them an opportunity to expand their skills, build creativity and find their voice.

In this class we will learn the basics of wheel thrown and hand built ceramics, from wedging to glazing. Let us help you start on your clay journey! Classroom is wheelchair accessible.

Start from scratch as you learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing!  Assignments are designed to encourage students to expand their skill level in pottery making. Decorating and glazing techniques will be explored and returning students are always welcome in this creative community! The classroom is wheelchair accessible.

Come Metalsmith with me in this step-by-step workshop. You will create a paperclip bracelet with a unique, double-sided charm. I will teach you how to hammer silver and copper into textural steel plates to produce a textured design. We will dome both of the charm halves, and solder them together. You choose your design, and measure the paperclip to best fit you. The length is adjustable. In Argentium Silver, copper, and stainless steel. All materials, tools, and safety equipment are provided. Please bring reading or prescription glasses to class as you will need them.

Bijouterie is the French word for ‘jewelry,’ and in this fun evening class, instructor Brenda Glasure will guide students in making a pair of sparkling earrings on French earwires. Participants will learn techniques such as shaping, hammering, stamping or texturing, sanding, cupping, and attaching their earrings. Bring friends or family and enjoy a creative night together. All materials and safety gear are provided.

Participants can design the front and inside covers of their lined ‘secret keeper,’ filling it with ideas, dreams, thoughts, and doodles. Use of warm and cool colors, wet-into-wet blending, glazing, perspective and palette organization provide the knowledge to complete a composition. Open to all levels, yes some experience is helpful. Give life to leftover yarn! This playful crochet series focuses on upcycling, scrap busting, and creative freeform projects that make the most of what’s already in your stash. Transform your yarn odds and ends into colorful baskets. You’ll learn how to blend colors and textures for unique storage pieces that are both practical and fun. After we move our bodies, we’ll get creative and make a special mindfulness craft inspired by our yoga theme, something kids can take home to keep the calm going! Perfect for curious movers and budding artists who love to play and create.
