Location
Finding inspiration from rural surroundings such as simple shapes of soil lines in a field, water currents, and the natural pigments in wildflowers, Romine creates abstract landscapes from paper and botanical materials by using a variety of fiber art methods. The work is fabricated through heavily process-driven steps of repetition—collecting, cutting, piecing, gluing, and steaming. The compositions range from atmospheric prints to sculptural pieces that become accumulative, rhythmic, drifting and ultimately dream-like.
“I view these creations as metaphorical landscapes that emphasize the ephemeral beauty in nature and question humanity’s relationship with its changing environment.”
