Call to Artists
BAYarts invites plein air artists throughout the region to join us for the Artistic By Nature Plein Air Paint Out event which will celebrate the beauty that surrounds us. This event is located on our campus at 28795 Lake Road, Bay Village, OH, 44140, and the surrounding Huntington Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks. This years event takes place Friday, September 19 through Sunday, September 21.

Details
Registration will be accepted in person only at BAYarts on Friday, September 19th from 8 am to 12 pm, and Saturday, September 20th from 8 am to 12 pm. The $45 registration fee will cover administrative costs, juror fees, and prizes. You may submit up to 2 pieces for judging. Registration for the Nocturne Paint and Quick Paint will be $10. Painters may add this option on to their registration fee OR participate solely in any one part of the event.
Eligibility: The competition is open to artists 18 years of age and older.
Format: Original two-dimensional art in any medium other than photography may be created during this event. No three-dimensional or computer-generated work will apply. Canvas/paper plus frame shall be less than or equal to 28” in any one direction. All pieces must be ready to hang.
Exhibition Venue: Works created during the competition can be for sale during our wet paint sale on the porch during the reception, if you, the artist, chooses. BAYarts will retain 40% of each sale. ALL SALES DURING THE EVENT MUST BE MADE THROUGH BAYarts.
Criteria: Each artist may submit a maximum of 2 pieces for jurying. Artwork must be completed on site in the true plein air style and may not be worked on offsite or generated from reference photos. Styles may range from realism to abstract and must be in keeping with the impromptu style of plein air.
This year's judge
Jeff Evans
This year’s judge will be acclaimed plein air painter Jeff Evans, a past awardee at the BAYarts Plein Air Paint Out as well as national events including the Bath County Plein Air Festival and Plein Air Easton. Evans brings a practiced eye for the nuances of this unique art form and will select six winners to receive cash prizes of up to $500.
