Non-Traditional Approaches to Realistic Portraiture

with VISITING ARTIST Melissa Markwald

SATURDAYS 10:00 AM-4:00 PM

JAN 6 & 13 (2 days)

This 2 day course will explore non-traditional techniques to painting and how those approaches can be refined to construct a realistic image. Students will choose a single reference image to create four paintings that all become all uniquely different. After demonstrating a variety of paint application techniques, the beginning of the class will emphasize experimentation. The class will then shift toward learning facial anatomy and how to use abstract imagery as the basis for a realistic image. This will teach students how to paint a realistic image by responding to the painting rather than the reference material.

$160

Registration begins Tuesday, August 8 at 9 am. Register between August 8 and 15 to receive 10% off your class fee.
