Long Pose Figure Drawing on Toned Paper WORKSHOP

Long Pose

with Peter Green

Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

This one day intensive workshop will focus on how to draw the nude figure on toned paper using dark drawing media for shadows and white chalk for highlights. Work from one model in the same pose all day, so that a finished drawing can be completed. We will also look at old master works that have used this technique and discuss the subtleties of different types of paper and drawing media. The instructor will provide demonstration, group and individual instruction. The focus will be on proportion, anatomy, light and shadow.

SATURDAY 10:00 AM-4:00 PM

MAR 3 (1 day)

*Registration begins on Tuesday, October 24 at 9 am. Register on or before October 31 and receive 10% off your class fee.

One large clip board to hold your paper. Toned paper of your choice, minimum size 18x24". Suggested papers to use; Canson Mi-Tientes, Strathmore Pastel paper, Arches BFK Rives, Fabriano Tiziano, Stonehenge. (Students are free to choose any color they like, but must be careful not to get a paper that is either too light or too dark, as it will be difficult to draw on. If in doubt, buy a few sheets or a pad) Charcoal or monochromatic pastel pencils in a complete range of hardness and of higher quality. Suggested pencils Conte Paris Pierre Noir, Sepia, or Sanguine. Faber-Castell Pitt Charcoal. (Note to select either a color or a black; we will not mix the two in the drawing, this will allow for the color of the paper to show through) For highlights use either Generals white pencil or any white pastel pencil will do. To sharpen the pencils we will use an X-acto knife and fine grit sandpaper. And make sure to have a few kneaded erasers!
