Long-Pose Figure Drawing WORKSHOP: The French Academic Method

longpose

with Peter Green

Intermediate to Advanced

Work from life to study the nude figure. Instructor Peter Green will guide students through the basics of the French Academic drawing methods, namely, the study of light on form, and how to capture proportion and gesture. Peter received his MFA from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, and has since gone on to study classical drawing and painting in France. The goal of this workshop is to create a finished drawing. This will be one long pose with the same model, no short poses or gestures. The teaching format will follow; lecture, demo, and individualized instruction.

Drawing only.

Peter Green

Peter Green was born and raised in southern Ohio, but he has spent time living in various locations abroad. He studied both drawing and design at Cleveland State, and while there he received a merit scholarship for the quality of his work. He then went on to receive an MFA from San Francisco's prestigious Academy of Art. Since then he has continued his artistic training in various workshops and specialized classes, under the tutelage of master artists such as Rebecca Guay, Juliette Aristides, and most recently an 11 week intensive at Studio Escalier in France. Peter is a representational artist who focuses mostly on the figure, still life and landscape, working in oil paints and traditional drawing media. His work has been published in art annuals, won awards, and shown in galleries across the nation. He currently teaches at Cleveland Institute of Art, The Beck Center, and BAYarts.
